Contact Lenses

Blanco EyeWorks in San Antonio offers many options for contact lenses.

Contacts are for people who prefer to be glasses-free with hassle-free vision correction. Wearing contact lenses also gives you the ability to wear non-prescription sunwear and goggles. They provide the added convenience of not having to worry about losing your glasses. Contact lenses may provide you with a more enhanced vision correction than wearing eyeglasses, especially if you have astigmatism or a high prescription.

Blanco Eyeworks can recommend the best contact lenses for you based on a complete eye examination and your lifestyle. It is always important to know what the choices are and the advantages and disadvantages of your options.

Soft Lenses

Soft lenses are comfortable to wear and are replaced monthly, weekly, or daily depending on the type chosen. Soft lenses are often highly recommended for athletes because they fit closer to the eye and are more difficult to fall out. They can correct most prescriptions, including astigmatism. With the introduction of newer technology and materials for soft lenses like silicone hydrogels, customers find it more comfortable than ever to wear soft lenses because they offer more oxygen to the eye.

Gas-Permeable (GP) Lenses

GP lenses are made of moderately flexible plastic, and offer sharp vision and can correct most vision problems. They are a more durable option to soft contact lenses and can be easier to handle and care for but require a more extended adjustment period. Consistent wear is necessary to maintain adjustment.

Multifocal Lenses

Both soft and Gas-Permeable lenses offer a multifocal lens option for patients with both distance and near vision correction, just as bifocal glasses do.

Color Contact Lenses

Enhance your eye color or change the color completely. Colored contacts are available in a variety of colors and shades and are made for any shade and color of the eyes.

Silicone Hydrogels

Silicone hydrogels are soft contact lenses that have a high oxygen permeability and are just as durable and easy to care for as Gas-Permeable lenses.

Annual eye exams are recommended to ensure the continued good health of your eyes, no matter the type of lenses you wear. Schedule an appointment for an assessment and recommendations at Blanco EyeWorks in San Antonio, and we will be in touch with you shortly.
